The management of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH) has refuted alleged extortion of the public with exorbitant medical fees from patients on Thursday.

Recall that a group under the umbrella of vigilance for a better Kogi State has reprimanded the management of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri, for allegedly extorting the public with his exorbitant medical expenses from his patients.

In a statement from its spokesperson, Adeiza Ibrahim, the group lamented that the hospital, which used to be a safe haven for patients due to its accessibility and availability of healthcare, has now become a shadow of itself as that the cost of services has increased. the roof.

However, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Isah Adagiri, said at a press conference to debunk the online publication that it was orchestrated by some miscreants who are determined to destroy the hospital.

According to management, the malicious post was allegedly authored by a faceless social media blog that deviated from the core journalistic profession of investigating before publishing a news story.

He said that in the last two years the management did not increase medical expenses, noting that the hospital was created to serve the population at affordable prices.

He regretted that some employees who were fired or suspended for various crimes were themselves a cogwheel that had caused problems in the hospital through false publications.

“In the last two years, we have not increased the prices of our services. We are here to serve the population and the state government has supported the hospital.

Over one billion naira was spent by the former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to renovate the hospital, and this commitment has given the hospital a new look,” the CMD said.

Also speaking about the allegation that the hospital had suffered low patient patronage, the CMD described the allegation as false, stating that the hospital is always busy and seeing numerous patients seeking medical attention.

“In fact, our hospital is the only medical center that has a viable morgue and is very busy and well attended. It is not a ghost hospital, as the hospital's enemies wrongly and maliciously claim, who have nothing to do and say other than tear down the hospital,” he said.

Reacting to the allegation that the administration auctioned vehicles without due process, Professor Adagiri said it was normal for any government establishment to auction unserviceable vehicles, noting that it was the state Ministry of Finance that held the auction and not the hospital.
