LUCENA CITY – Law enforcement officials seized more than P3.8 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine) from an alleged “high value” drug dealer in Balayan town, Batangas province, on Saturday, April 27.

Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, director of Police Region 4A, in a report said “Darwin,” 27, was arrested by combined units of local police officers and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency after he allegedly sold P2,000 worth of shabu to a poseur shopper in Barangay (village) Santol at around 1:25 p.m.

Government agents allegedly confiscated from Darwin 14 plastic sachets and five tied plastics containing shabu weighing 563 grams worth over P3,800,000 and a digital scale.

Authorities also seized a cell phone from the suspect, which will be subjected to digital forensic examination to verify records of drug transactions.

Police marked the suspect, a resident of the village, among those included on the police drug watch list as an “HVI” or high-value individual in the local drug trade.

Authorities are investigating the origin of the drugs.

The suspect was detained and faces a formal complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
