The Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commended contractors handling different projects in Abuja for fulfilling their promises to deliver projects before May 29.

Wike gave the commendation after inspecting some of the ongoing projects in the capital territory on Saturday.

The Minister recalled that he had promised Abuja residents that President Bola Tinubu would inaugurate several projects to celebrate his one year in office.

He said: “I am completely satisfied.

“This is a promise made and a promise kept.

“We went along the Southern Parkway, from Christian Center to Ring Road 1, being run by Setraco.

“The project is almost 98% complete.

“We have already been on the South Exterior Expressway from the Villa Roundabout to Rodoanel 1, with the CGC being carried out.

“You can agree with me that it's not just the beauty.

“The landscape is wonderful and the project is also 98% complete.

“We went to the vice president's residence, which is being built by Julius Berger, and the company assured us that all the furniture and other facilities are ready and in the finishing phase.”

From the VP's residence, the Minister inspected the B6 and B12 highways on Avenida Independência, being carried out by Julius Berger.

The company's directors assured the minister that it would be ready for opening in May.

Wike also inspected the N-20 Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway in Jahi District, being carried out by Gilmor.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the project, which he said was almost 99 percent ready.

He also expressed confidence that the air bridge projects in Wuye and the road projects in Guzape would also be ready for commissioning.

Wike said: “I want to thank all the companies for living up to their words.

“They promised us that all these projects will be commissioned by May.

“I am very impressed.

“This is money well spent.

“The renewed hope agenda is alive.”
