There is a key story that will undoubtedly be vital to The Mandalorian and Grogubut the setting for this significant story took place in the strangest place in Star Wars. Presumably picking up where The Mandalorian the end of season 3 stopped, The Mandalorian and Grogu The film will follow the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu as they work behind the scenes as independent contractors for the New Republic. Mando will also teach Grogu more about Mandalorian culture and his Way, meaning Mandalorian lore will be more important than ever to the future of their story.

Little Mandalorian tradition was established in The Mandalorian, plus brief insights into the history of the Great Purge and the Night of a Thousand Tears in season 3. Otherwise, most aspects of Mandalorian culture—at least, the culture of Din Djarin's Sons of the Watch tribe—are still unknown, from the group's formation to the nuances of family names to special helmet removal permits. Everything we know about the Mandalorian movie and Grogu

The Mandalorian's story will continue with a Star Wars film. Here's everything we know about the project, including cast, release, and schedule.

The main Mandalorian tradition was established in the book of Boba Fett

The Mythosaurus Prophecy and Darksaber Story Were Not Told in The Mandalorian

Interestingly, the most important Mandalorian tradition that has been established thus far in Star Wars live action is shared on The Book of Boba Fett. It is in the Din Djarin acquisition episode of the spin-off series that the Armorer discusses some essential topics: the history of the Dark Saber, the prophecy of the Mythosaurus and a brief retelling of the Night of a Thousand Tears. This is also when the Armorer reveals that his people's history goes back 10,000 years. It is prophecy, however, that will undoubtedly be the key to The Mandalorian and Grogu.

This Mythosaurus must appear, and it is more than likely that it will happen in The Mandalorian & Grogu film.

Originally it was thought that this prophecy of “the Mythosaurus emerging to herald a new era on Mandalore” would happen in The Mandalorian season 3, and in some ways, arguably, yes – but not completely. With the Mythosaurus being spotted by Bo-Katan Kryze under the Living Waters on Mandalore in Season 3, it became apparent that This new era is upon the Mandalorians, but the full prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. This Mythosaurus must emerge, and it is more than likely that this will happen in The Mandalorian and Grogu film, in case the planet is threatened in any way.

The setting of this prophecy and the main lore established about the Mandalorians are extremely important, meaning it should have happened in The Mandalorian instead of The Book of Boba Fett. This points out a glaring problem with the “Mandoverse” stories; they are becoming too dependent on each other and too ambitious in their crossover stories. Now, Star Wars will have to live with the fact that this important configuration for The Mandalorian and Grogu the film doesn't even take place in its own TV show, which is hopefully something the franchise has learned from.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
