Manila, Philippines – It was a bittersweet end to the PVL All-Filipino Conference for PLDT's Savi Davison as the High Speed Hitters shocked perennial powerhouse Creamline in four sets to end their campaign on a high note on Thursday night.

Davison scored 27 points in the decisive victory to help PLDT claim their first franchise victory over the Cool Smashers, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 27-25 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Fil-Canadian slugger's scoring, built on 25 hits, one block and one ace, earned her a second PVL Press Corps Player of the Week nod.

Davison was the unanimous choice for the plum for the April 23-27 period, garnering all 16 votes from print and online writers covering the league organized by Sports Vision.

The winger appeared in the game without a roll after the High Speed Hitters were officially eliminated from the semi-final race earlier that game day, with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers sealing their place in the next round with victory over the Galeries Tower Highrisers.

Even though the conference ended before the final match, Davison was adamant about giving his best against one of the best teams in the PVL.

“As Kath (Arado) said, we had to give it our all as there is nothing we can lose,” Davison said.

“Thinking about it now, we beat the top two teams in the conference. It kind of shows that when we show up, when we put our best foot forward, the sky is the limit,” she added.

Davison defeated semi-final nominees for the plum, including Sisi Rondina of Choco Mucho, Eya Laure of Chery Tiggo and Brooke Van Sickle of Petro Gazz, as they are expected to continue to the next round of the league, which is being broadcast live on Pilipinas App live and www.pvl.ph.

Nxled Chameleons' Ivy Lacsina, Cignal HD Spikers' Gel Cayuna, Akari Chargers' Grethcel Soltones and Farm Fresh's Trisha Tubu rounded out the list of nominees for the weekly citation.

With their conference campaign coming to an end, Davison is hoping for a more productive second conference later this year as the High Speed Hitters set their sights on the semi-finals again in the 2024 PVL season.

“I think from that and just being able to show up without that motivation, that extra ‘we can get to the semi-finals’ (mentality). So knowing that and going into the next (conference) and using that and presenting it will be really helpful in terms of adding that motivation and adding that determination, knowing that we were capable of what we did tonight.” she said.
