MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine team competing in the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup defeated Kaya-Iloilo, the PFF Women's League champion, 1-0, in a friendly match held Thursday at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite .

Bella Alamo scored the winner after an assist from Louraine Evangelista to give the Philippines U17s victory in one of their final matches before heading to Bali, Indonesia, for their first campaign in the continental tournament.

Kaya missed a penalty late in the match, according to the team's report.

The friendly was divided into three 30-minute periods, rather than the standard two 45-minute halves.

Coach Sinisa Cohadzic's team played the exhibition as part of the final preparations for the Asian Cup, which will see the Philippines face host country North Korea and South Korea in Group A.

A friendly is scheduled for Sunday at the same ground, before the team heads to Bali for the Asian Cup, which starts on May 6.

The top three teams will qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Nina Mathekus, Aiselyn Sia, Alexa Pino and Isabella Preston are among the 31 players participating in the team's camp.

The Philippines U17s faced a Kaya team led by senior team captain Hali Long and forward Shelah Mae Cadag.
