The Chairman of the Senate Electoral Affairs Committee, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has declared that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, has failed to prepare for today’s local government elections in the state.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, made the statement while addressing newsmen at his residence in Ibadan North local government area.

Alli, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, denounced reports of late arrival of election materials in some parts of the state.

He added that there are many abnormalities that characterized the election.

While speaking, Alli further stated that what happened is an indication that OYSIEC was not prepared for the elections.

He added that there are complaints of delay in the arrival of election materials in most parts of the state.

“I heard complaints from Iseyin, I heard complaints from Okeho since yesterday. Yesterday there was a problem in Ayete, polling officials are yet to arrive at Idikan Onibata in Ward 4, Ward 5 of Ibadan North West local government area, we continue to complain.

“As I speak, they said they are on their way. When the election will close at 3pm and they haven't reached 11pm yet.

“It shows that OYSIEC is not ready or ready for some games – it’s one of the two.

“Because if by 11am the materials have not yet arrived at this location which is about 5 to 10 minutes away from the OYSIEC headquarters and the Ibadan North local government headquarters, what are we talking about?

“This is District 3 and this is where I have been voting. Last year we were here at this time when the election was almost concluded.”
