NEW YORK — The Philadelphia 76ers plan to file a complaint related to officiating during their NBA playoff series against the New York Knicks, a team spokesperson said Tuesday.

The 76ers lost both games in New York, with the Knicks rallying in the final 30 seconds for a 104-101 victory on Monday night.

The Knicks took a 3-point lead from Donte DiVincenzo with 13 seconds remaining, a possession that began when they stole the ball from Tyrese Maxey. Maxey was unable to receive the pass inbounds while being surrounded by Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart and fell to the ground, with Hart snatching the ball from him.

Joel Embiid said Maxey was fouled and also that coach Nick Nurse and some players tried to call a timeout before the Knicks received the ball. The All-Star center used an expletive when saying the officiating was unacceptable.

The Knicks protested their Feb. 12 loss at Houston after referees ruled postgame that a foul on Brunson that set up the game-winning free throws should not have been called. The NBA denied the protest, saying a referee's error was not a reason to overturn the result.

The Knicks began listing the breakdown of that night's referees in their game notes during the playoffs, listing their history with the referees along with statistics detailing how often the violations they report and how often their calls are challenged.
