Prince Adetule, a former member of the Academic Council of the International Institute of Journalism, Ado-Ekiti Campus, Ekiti State, has advocated a severe penalty for embezzlement of public funds.

He made this position known at a public lecture organized by Treasure Newspaper in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

Adetule emphasized that lack of effective punishment by the government had led to rampant corruption.

He stated: “People will commit crimes and hire great lawyers to escape punishment.

“But if the government makes it constitutional, if a person embezzles public funds, let it be executed in public.
