Nearly four decades after their runaway success, Crowded House is reuniting for a series of festival takes place this summer.

The rock band originally formed in 1985 and instantly gained mainstream success with their incredible debut album and biggest single, Don't Dream It's Over.

Now bandmates Neil Finn, Paul Hester and Nick Seymour are joining forces to release new music and also head out on tour for the Isle of Wight festival.

Crowded House is set to take the stage on Friday, billed with acts including The Prodigy, Green Day and The Pet Shop Boys.

Nostalgia has really taken over this year with everyone from Faithless to The Feeling riding that lucrative reunion wave.

Crowded House is no different, as the Australian band – plus New Zealander Neil – release their eight studio album Gravity Stairs next month.

Adding to the group's long list of tour dates is the On The Mount At Wasing festival in Reading this summer.

The tour will kick off in June at venues including the Eden Project, the historic O2 Empire in Shepherd's Bush and Cardiff Castle, as they weave festivals across the UK.

Alongside the live shows, a new single was released – Teenage Summer – with an unexpected album on the way, which will be their first since the band split in 2018.

Talking about his big debut success, Neil said Variety: 'It's the song in a Crowded House set that people can sing from beginning to end very easily, in group context, community singing and everything in between. This has always been a very important thing for us.

Although Don't Dream It's Over was Crowded House's biggest hit, songs like Something So Strong, Better Be Home Soon and Distant Sun were all popular.

During this hiatus, Neil joined the legendary Fleetwood Mac following the departure of Lindsey Buckingham.

The band was originally formed in the mid-80s, achieving global success until the 90s, when they released the compilation album Recurring Dream.

Founding brothers Neil and Tim Finn were awarded an OBE in 1993 for services to New Zealand music, but split three years later.

Tragedy struck in 2005, when drummer Paul Hester took his own life, and the group reunited a year later in his memory.

In 2012, Pete Jones, who replaced Hester as drummer died aged 45 of brain cancer and the band called him a 'warm, funny and talented man'.

Since then, Crowded House has had several splits and reunions, but this is the biggest yet, with big festivals and an appetite for nostalgia behind them.

Crowded House's new single is out now and tickets for the tour are available on their website. website.
