Fubara sad, confirms 5 deaths, 120 cars burned in tanker truck explosion

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sadly confirmed that five people lost their lives and 120 vehicles were completely burnt in an oil tanker explosion on Friday night in Eleme Local Government Area.
According to him, the oil tanker hell became a sad episode in the State, with more than 120 vehicles destroyed and around five lives lost, describing it as a “great tragedy and very regrettable”.
“It is a very sad day in our dear State. Something happened in Eleme, along the route of Indorama Petrochemical and Fertilizer Company Limited. An oil tanker had a problem with a dump truck and there was an unfortunate situation that caused the State a very devastating loss.

“I went there this morning to see for myself what really happened and I can tell you that I have not been happy since. With all the dramas in our State, it is not even appropriate for us to add this.
“But it wasn’t our fault. That's exactly what impatience caused. The tanker truck driver, knowing the condition of that road, had no patience, and this resulted in that colossal loss. More than 120 vehicles were completely burned and five lives were lost. It was very regrettable”, lamented the governor.
He commiserated with those who lost loved ones and others whose vehicles were burnt beyond repair and added that the State Government mourned and grieved with them.
