The Coalition of Northern Patriots (CNP), commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for restoring dignity and confidence in the Nigerian aviation sector.

The group stated this in a statement signed by its president Kudu Mohammed when reacting to the suspension of Dana Airlines' Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

It would be recalled that the Minister ordered the suspension of the airline after its aircraft (MD82) with registration number 5SN-BKI skidded recently on the runway at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

The group welcomed Keyamo's decision to prioritize the safety and well-being of Nigerians and other air travelers in line with international best practices.

He noted that in the aviation business there is no room for error, so all protocols must be strictly followed and that is what Keyamo has done.

The statement reads in part: “The suspension of Dana Airlines operations is a welcome development. “As we all know, this is the second time in two years that Dana Air's AOC has been suspended for safety violations.

“In 2022, the airline's operation was halted after the result of a financial and economic health audit carried out on the airline by the regulatory authority was negative.

“This time, however, we fortunately have an Aviation Minister whose priority is the safety and well-being of travelers who are not afraid to make painful decisions for the good of the nation.

“We have a man who never compromises and holds firmly to his principles. Keyamo has already introduced some innovative reforms in line with global best practices. He carried out a complete cleanup of the polluted sector he inherited.

“We therefore pass a vote of confidence in your leadership. Of course we know he is not the most liked Minister due to his transparent and resolute approach.

“However, we want Mr Keyamo to know that the masses are with him.”
The group, therefore, urged him to continue to be a fearless defender of the masses and never allow himself to be silenced by detractors.
