Britain's Got Talent viewers were furious when judges allowed a 'pointless' act to take place.

Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli angered millions when a man auditioned to play air guitar… and received rave reviews.

Sven Smith, 27, was the first candidate to take to the stage on Saturday night, oozing confidence as he promised the panel an act they had never seen before.

And, well, that's certainly what they achieved.

The intrigued judges encouraged Sven to begin his performance, at which point he pretended to take an instrument out of a guitar case.

'There's no guitar!' exclaimed presenter Ant McPartlin as Oasis' Wonderall started playing.

Sven then imitated the song and 'played' along with his air guitar, then dropped and 'smashed' his fake instrument as the track descended into chaos.

Moments later, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody blasted over the speakers, with Sven ripping off his clothes to expose a skin-baring ensemble.

Wearing a leather jacket and sequin pants, he ran through the auditorium as the crowd went wild.

It didn't take long for Alesha to press the buzzer, but surprisingly, the rest of the panel were big fans, shaking Sven's hands and high-fiving him as he made his way down to the table.

With the audience applauding Queen's classic, Sven was over the moon, especially when the three non-cheering judges gave him a standing ovation – even Simon was in fits of laughter!

'That really made me laugh,' commented the typically stoic talent show judge.

As the judges gathered to reveal their verdict, Simon, Amanda and Bruno were firmly in favor of Sven passing, while Alesha gave a firm “no”.

Going to X during the show, viewers expressed their frustration that the 'ridiculous' act was allowed to audition in the first place.

'It's not really a talent. Anyone can sit on the guitar and run around the stage,' wrote user rebeccahollyxo_.

“You judges make no sense,” MariaCliff70742 raged.

'The fact that this group went through multiple auditions before getting to the live show is ridiculous!' said MufcGibz.

User maxbiddle98 added: 'He didn't even do anything. He just ran around shaking his head and playing air guitar. This was completely useless.

Others called the candidate a 'muppet', while some expressed fears he could win it all.

Don't worry, it wasn't all nonsense on tonight's show as there was a special Golden Buzzer moment.

A Japanese dance troupe who traveled to Britain's Got Talent due to their love for Simon secured the music mogul's coveted buzzer, after dazzling him with an energetic routine choreographed to his own music.

After CyberAgent Legit took to the stage, Simon asked why they had traveled so far for BGT, to which a member of the group said: 'We love Simon, that's why we're here.'

Dressed in matching red and silver metallic outfits, the group, aged between 20 and 28, impressed with their lively routine which featured synchronized movements and head turns.

Simon hailed the performance as “fantastic” and described it as his “favourite act of the day”.

The audience then cheered for him to give them his golden buzzer until he finally agreed, which made the group jump with joy.

Afterwards, a member of the group said: 'This is a dream come true for us.'

Simon added: 'This is the kind of performance you want in a competition, it was really good.

“And I could see how much time had gone into this, everyone in this theater was rooting for you.”

Britain's Got Talent continues next Saturday on ITV1 and ITVX.
