U2 bassist Adam Clayton and his wife of 10 years, Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho, have 'amicably divorced'.

Rocker and lawyer Mariana, 64, aged 45, has been married since 2013, when they got married in a discreet ceremony in Dublin, before jetting off to France for a bigger party.

They will co-parent their six-year-old daughter, Alba, who was born four years after they got married.

Sharing a statement announcing the news, the pair said they would both be “fully involved” in Alba's care.

A spokesperson said Metro.co.uk: 'After more than 10 years of marriage, musician Adam Clayton and lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have divorced amicably.

'They will both remain fully involved in their daughter's care and request that the family's privacy be respected.'

Adam was previously engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell, who previously remembered their relationship fondly.

“Good memories,” she said when asked about the 1994 novel in an interview with the Irish Independent.

'I went to see the show in Los Angeles and I'm friends with the whole band. The whole band was great. Your children are all grown up. It's nice to know people for so long and still have a relationship.

'I'm not going to discuss my private life. I only have very positive things to say about him. I’m so proud of Adam,” she said.

The bassist was also engaged to record executive Susie Smith, whom he proposed to on Valentine's Day 2006 after eight years together.

However, a year after their engagement began, the pair split in what friends described at the time as an “amicable split,” according to the Irish media outlet.

The musician became a father for the first time in 2010, when he welcomed a son from a previous relationship.

Adam and Mariana's French wedding party was attended by other members of U2 – Bono and The Edge (David Howell Evans) – alongside supermodel Christy Turlington and other stars.

The band – with drummer Bram van den Berg replacing original member Larry Mullen Jr – has been busy performing their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency in Las Vegas since September, wrapping up last month.

Original drummer Larry underwent neck surgery before U2's Las Vegas shows, but was able to attend the penultimate night of the residency – not on stage, but in the audience.

'Since October 1978 we haven't done a show without Larry Mullen Jr.,' Bono told the crowd, according to variety.

“This is the man who posted the notice on the bulletin board at Mount Temple Comprehensive School all those years ago,” he added, referring to the “Musicians Wanted” poster that saw them form in 1976.

'And we're so grateful that he did that and that he's here with us tonight. We wish you a speedy, speedy and speedy recovery. We love you, Larry Mullen Jr.
