A GoFundMe set up to help Kaleb McCall’s family financially has amassed over $14,000 thanks to the hundreds of supporters who flocked to the website to support the bereaved parents.

Kaleb McCall, a student at Sycamore High School, was tragically stabbed on Thursday during an altercation with a young suspect near Elm and Somonauk Streets. Following the tragedy, the Sycamore Community organized a fundraiser to provide financial support to the bereaved family. They were grieving the loss of the teen at the time. A family member referred to the deceased kid as a friendly young man with a contagious smile on the crowdfunding website.
The teen was dearly loved by his mother and well-liked in the neighborhood. Kaleb McCall enjoyed going fishing with his dad and playing video games with friends.

Sycamore High School doubled the number of counselors on Friday to help pupils deal with the loss, according to Sycamore School District Superintendent Steve Wilder. The school system expressed condolences for the young man’s passing in an email to parents and also urged the locals to support one another in these trying times.
A part of the email said: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the student’s family and friends during this difficult time. We understand that this news is shocking and heartbreaking for all of us. As a community, we must come together to support each other and provide comfort to those in need. We will have counselors and social workers available today throughout the district for anyone who needs support.”
Superintendent Steve Wilder stated children were in and out of the library on Friday, while counselors were on hand for anyone who needed them, in a statement to WIFR. He added: “Sycamore is a very tight-knit community, so when there’s a tragedy like we experienced last night, you see people really pulling together and leaning on each other,” he said. “It just felt good to provide that kind of support and work together to support our students and staff today.”
While the neighborhood mourned the death of Kaleb McCall, authorities reported that the juvenile suspect had been apprehended.
