On Wednesday, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin received Marcelo Teixeira, the president elected to head Santos for a three-year term from 2024 to 2026, at a meeting in Brasilia. The involvement also included three further members of the Federal Government.

In addition to future president Peixe and Alckmin, the meeting was also attended by Marcio França, Minister of Entrepreneurship, Micro and Small Enterprises; and Paulo Alexandre Barbosa and Júnior Bozzella, both federal deputies.

Both the vice president, the minister and the MPs who took part in Wednesday's meeting are declared Santos fans. Alckmin even appeared in some photos taken from the match wearing an Alvinegro Praiano shirt.

“An important program in Brasília/DF, with Santistas with all their heart and soul, together to rebuild our Santos FC. The work doesn't end!” Bozzella wrote on his social media, tagging all the professionals present at the meeting.

Marcelo Teixeira will take charge of Santos from January 2024. However, even before his tenure officially begins, the professional is already working behind the scenes, trying to complete the hiring of a new coach.

Alvinegro Praiano is going through a delicate moment financially, especially after being relegated to Series B of the Brazilian Championship. Next year, the team will compete exclusively in the Campeonato Paulista and the second division of the national tournament.
