MANILA, Philippines – Angel Canino will not play in La Salle's game against the University of the Philippines on Thursday in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament due to a right arm injury.

Amid rumors about his well-being in recent days, Canino still arrived with his team for the game at the Mall of Asia Arena, but wore a sling on his right arm, hidden under a La Salle jacket. His entire arm is tightly wrapped.

According to La Salle courtside reporter Patrice Dabao, Angel Canino suffered the injury in a non-volleyball-related accident.

There is still no timetable for his recovery.

Canino did not warm up for the game and sat next to the coaches as the Lady Spikers resumed their campaign in the second round.

La Salle coaches respectfully declined pregame interviews about his health status ahead of the team's match against UP. The school has not yet given an official update. from the post.

This is the first time that Canino, the league's rookie MVP, will miss a UAAP game after 24 games.

Missing Canino will be a huge blow to the Lady Spikers, as she led the team in scoring through the first eight games, averaging 16.3 points per game.
