EXCLUSIVE: FilmNation Entertainment and Bleecker Street have set a June 14 U.S. theatrical release date for the Julia von Heinz drama Treasurewhich will have its world premiere as a special gala presentation at the Berlin Film Festival on February 17th.
Starring Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, the story follows a daughter and father on a road trip in 1990s Poland. Check out an early clip above.
Dunham plays Ruth, an American music journalist who joins her father, Edek (Fry), a charming and stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a trip to his homeland. While Ruth is eager to understand her family's past, Edek embarks on the journey with his own plans.
Treasure is based on the best-selling autobiographical novel Many men by Lily Brett. Von Heinz also co-wrote the film with frequent collaborator John Quester.
This is the third and final addition to von Heinz's “Aftermath Trilogy,” post-2013. Hanna's journeyand submission to the 2020 German International Feature Film Oscar And tomorrow the whole world.
Bleecker Street and FilmNation are partnering on the worldwide release of Treasureafter having previously collaborated on the US releases of Waitress: The Musical starring Sara Bareilles, and Disobedience starring Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams.
FilmNation also represents the opening of the Berlin Film Festival, Little things like thatstarring (and produced by) Oppenheimer Oscar nominee Cillian Murphy.
Also in Berlin, Bleecker Street will present the film by David and Nathan Zellner Sasquatch Sunsetstarring Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough, in the festival's Berlinale Special section following its world premiere at Sundance last month.
