Muppet Mayhem may be history on Disney+, but co-creator Adam F. Goldberg isn’t ready to say goodbye to his furry friends.
After it was revealed that the live-action series was being axed after one season, Goldberg gave X an update on his future with the Muppets.
“Many thanks to the critical and fan love that has earned us 6 Emmy nominations and a #1 Billboard album,” he wrote. “Mayhem was truly the most joyful and collaborative experience of my career. From day one, all I cared about was creating a Muppet verse and YES, I’m already cooking up more Muppets with @billbarretta and @JeffYorkes! Is happening.”
The ten parts Muppet Mayhem was released in May. Disney+ never revealed how well – or how badly – the series did for the streamer.
Lilly Singh starred as Nora, a junior A&R executive in charge of managing and organizing the band, and with her help, the former Muppet band came face to face with today’s music scene as they tried to finally go platinum.
Tahj Mowry, Saara Chaudry and Anders Holm also starred alongside Muppet performers including Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel.
The Disney Branded Television series was produced by ABC Signature and The Muppets Studio. It was part of Goldberg’s overall deal with ABC Signature.
Executive producers include Goldberg, Barretta, Michael Bostick and Kris Eber, as well as The Muppets Studio’s David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter. Yorkes is co-executive producer.
