MANILA, Philippines – The deadline to apply for Unified Multipurpose Identification (UMID) cards of members who registered from August 2017 to December 2020 is December 29, 2023.

The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) made the announcement on Tuesday.

According to the SSS, unclaimed cards will be discarded after this period.

This action will include cards that the Philippine Postal Corporation returned to the SSS.

“After the deadline, unclaimed cards, including those that the Philippine Postal Corporation returned to the SSS after two unsuccessful delivery attempts, will be discarded based on the retention policy of the SSS,” the SSS said.

The agency also advised the public to check UMID card applications through its online account.

“To check the status of their UMID card application, members are advised to log into their My.SSS Portal account at www.sss.gov.ph.”, it said.

A member must click on the ‘UMID/SSS ID Details’ option under the ‘MEMBER INFO’ tab.

“If the transaction status says ‘Card Generated’, members will be able to claim the card at the SSS branch where the UMID application was submitted,” he added.

In February 2023, SSS has stopped accepting applications for regular UMID cards.

Instead, it is now offering UMID ATM payment card to members who have existing UMID cards or pending UMID card applications.
