EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures Entertainment, in a competitive situation, won the theatrical distribution deals for two mega films from Apple Original Films – the George Clooney and Brad Pitt film Wolves and the title by Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum Artemis Project.

The news comes hot on the heels of the Ridley Scott-directed film from Apple Original Films Napoleon advancing to $200 million worldwide through its distribution deal with Sony.

Both films, developed and produced by Apple Original Films, will receive a global theatrical run before streaming worldwide on AppleTV+. Napoleon premiered on November 22 and has a 45-day theatrical window. Although no theatrical release date has been set for Wolves It is Artemis Project, It wouldn't be shocking if both managed to secure 2,024 spots in an exhibition market that's starved for projects.

The agreement also returns Spider man franchise filmmaker Jon Watts, who is the director of Wolf, to the Sony Culver City studio who saw his Spider-Man: No Way Home it became the seventh highest-grossing film of all time with $1.92 billion worldwide. Watts also wrote and produced Wolves which follows two lone wolf fixers assigned to the same job. The star-studded cast also includes Oscar nominee and SAG winner Amy Ryan. Johansson and Tatum star alongside a cast that includes Jim Rash, Emmy winner Ray Romano, the newcomer Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg and Christian Zuber and Woody Harrelson. In addition to starring, Johansson serves as a producer under her These Pictures banner. Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn produce alongside Johansson for These Pictures. Sarah Schechter produces for Berlanti Productions. Robert Dohrmann is the executive producer and Apple Studios serves as the studio.

Artemis Project It is Wolves join a growing list of Apple Original movies from Apple Studios, including Martin Scorsese Flower Moon Assassins, was recently named Best Picture of the Year by the National Board of Review, one of the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute, and the #1 Best Film of 2023 by The New York Times, The New Yorker and the Film Critics Circle from New York. The film opened on October 20 and grossed over $155 million WW. The film hit PVOD and digital purchase on December 5th.
