EXCLUSIVE: Dylan Gélula (dream scenario) has joined Paramount Pictures' untitled sequel to SmileParker Finn's 2022 horror thriller, which achieved massive success in theaters after initially being set to debut on Paramount+.
The actress joins a cast that also includes Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage, Kyle Gallner and Rosemarie DeWitt, as previously announced.
Details about the plot and the roles of the cast members are under wraps. But Finn returned to directing from his own script, with Temple Hill producing. The sequel is slated for release on October 18, 2024, when it will face off against an unnamed title from Universal Pictures.
Grossing more than US$217 million at the worldwide box office, Smile was one of the big and unexpected box office hits of 2022. One of several original studio horror films that have recently expanded into a franchise, pic tells the story of Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon), a psychiatrist who becomes increasingly more convinced she is being threatened by a strange entity, after witnessing a bizarre and traumatic incident involving a patient.
Most recently seen starring alongside Nicolas Cage in the A24 comedy dream scenariowhich world premiered at TIFF, Gelula has previously taken on roles in films such as the video rom-com Prime I want you BackCooper Raiff's directorial debut shitty houseJeff brothers Horse Girl starring Alison Brie, the punk rocker drama led by Elisabeth Moss Her smellGotham by Andrew Bujalski and nominated for an Independent Spirit Award Support the girlsand Max Winkler's sex comedy Flower.
