BEAVERCREEK, Ohio — A gunman opened fire Monday night at an Ohio Walmart and injured four people before killing himself, police said.
The attack was reported around 8:30 p.m. at the Walmart in Beavercreek, a city of about 50,000 people in the Dayton metro area.
“The conditions of the victims at this time are unknown,” but all were taken to hospitals for treatment, police Capt. Scott Molnar said at a news conference.
Police also said the shooter died after apparently shooting himself. His name, motive for the attack and other details were not immediately released.
Police previously said on social media that the store had been cleared and secured and that there was no “active threat.”
“We are heartbroken by what happened at our store in Beavercreek, Ohio. This continues to be a developing situation and we are working closely with investigators on scene,” Walmart said in a statement.
