MANILA, Philippines – Lakas-CMD members in the House of Representatives increased to 86 after four more lawmakers joined the political party from top officials, including House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez himself.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Romualdez confirmed that the following lawmakers have moved to Lakas-CMD:

  • Camarines 2nd District Rep. Rosemarie Panotes
  • Representative of North Agusan 2nd District. Dale Corvera
  • 1st District Deputy. Mr Suan
  • Caloocan 2nd District Representative Mary Mitzi Cajayon-Uy

Meanwhile, San Jose Del Monte City Mayor Arturo Robes also took oath as a member of Lakas-CMD earlier.

Romualdez, who administered the oath to the lawmakers, said they are delighted to have the new members among their ranks.

“We sincerely welcome our new members. We are delighted and excited to have you on board. With your exceptional skills, experience and dedication, we look forward to the unique contributions and perspectives you will bring to Lakas-CMD to help the Marcos administration defend the interests of the people,” he said.

“Your commitment to serving the Filipino people will play an important role in the continued success of Lakas-CMD and positively impact our constituents across the country. We will support and care for you and please do not hesitate to contact the party leadership,” he added.

Panotes, Corvera, Cajayon-Uy, and Mayor Robes were former members of the Philippine Democratic Party (PDP-Laban), while Suan was from the Nacionalista Party (NP).

The decision of the four legislators to join Lakas-CMD is the latest in a series of moves towards the said party. Last November 13, Pasay City Rep. Antonino Calixto, 2nd District Representative of Cebu. Edward Branch Jr., 1st district representative of the city of Paranaque. Edwin Olivares and Zamboanga Del Norte 2nd District Representative. Glona Labadlabad was inducted as the new members of Lakas-CMD.

Then, last November 8, Senior Vice President Aurelio Gonzales Jr., 1st District Representative of New Ecija. Michael Suansing, 1st District Representative of Pampanga. Carmelo Lazatin and Siquijor Rep. Zaldy Villa passed to the side.
