MANILA, Philippines – NLEX will take part in an eventful clash against TNT in the PBA Commissioner's Cup this Wednesday.
The Road Warriors are set to unveil Robert Bolick when they face their sister team in a bid to stay afloat in the race for a playoff spot.
Game time is 8 p.m., with team governor Ronald Dulatere hoping the former NorthPort ace, picked third overall during the 2018 Rookie Draft, will play without pressure.
“Just try to fill the void left by Kevin (Alas) – both (through) his offense and leadership,” the newly appointed league board representative told the Inquirer in a message on Tuesday.
The rights to Bolick were acquired by NLEX from NorthPort in a three-team deal involving San Miguel beer. He arrives at a time when the club is dealing with the absence of its pillar Alas, who has suffered a ruptured knee ligament for the third time in a row.
A jersey retirement ceremony for former league most valuable player Asi Taulava is also scheduled.
“We chose to retire his jersey in a game with TNT, as that was the team where he started his PBA career,” Dulatre said of the short event.
Dulatre also said that Tualava will continue to be part of NLEX's plans in the future, as it is expected to become a corporate ambassador.
Taulava, a PBA champion and 17-time All-Star, was activated by team management on Tuesday — creating a chance to eclipse Robert Jaworski Sr.'s long-standing record.
