American music icon Patti Smith has been hospitalized due to a 'sudden illness'.
The 76-year-old rocker fell ill this Tuesday (December 12) in Bologna, currently on tour in Italy.
She was supposed to perform at the Duse theater that night, but, as reported by TG Com 24the show was canceled because she is under observation.
In a statement released to fans, the theater said: 'With great regret, we inform the kind audience that Patti Smith's show will not be able to take the stage due to a sudden illness that has struck the artist.
'We are all sorry for the inconvenience caused by this news. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go to the artist.'
Before that, Patti's last performance was on Saturday night (December 9) at Modena Cathedral as part of her eight-date Italian tour.
