MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies and rain showers are expected in parts of Luzon and Visayas on Tuesday due to the effects of the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“The effect of the north wind still continues in much of Luzon, so the weather will be cloudy with the possibility of rain in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Quezon,” said Pagasa meteorological expert Aldczar Aurelio.

“Due to the effect of the shear line, the sky will be cloudy with scattered rain in the Bicol region and Mindoro provinces,” he added.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have fair weather with isolated rain chances.

WHeavy skies and rain showers also due to shearline are expected in Western Visayas, while the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have generally fair weather with chances of rain due to thunderstorms.

  • Legazpi City: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 21 to 29 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • The temperature will be 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 22 to 32 degrees Celsius

Gale warning!!!

Due to the effects of the northeast monsoon and the shear line, a gale warning was issued for the coasts of northern Luzon. The coast of Southern Luzon (northern Quezon, including the Polillo Islands, the coast of Catanduanes, the coast of Albay, the coast of Sorsogon) and the Visayas (Northern Samar and Eastern Samar).

Wave heights are expected to vary from 2.8 to 4.5 meters in these areas.
