Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco stated that the failure to extend Art Interim measure 1202/2023 which would increase the social security rate for small municipalities from 8% to 20%. He recalled that last year the National Congress approved the benefit and overrode the veto. Pacheco opposed Finance Minister Fernando Haddad's denial of fiscal irresponsibility in his decision and said that dialogue to find solutions would continue.

Despite waiving the R$10 billion due to the non-extension of the article, the leader of the government in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), stated that the economic team would continue to analyze what could be done. However, he denied that Pacheco's attitude would cause disruptions in relations with the executive or constitute an “apocalypse.”
