The Ogun State Police Command said it launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of Nurat Ogundipe and the commercial motorcyclist who was transporting her when they encountered her kidnappers.

They were said to be from Ijio, Iwere Ile, an Oyo community that shared border with Ogun State on Monday, April 1, when they were allegedly abducted.

An eyewitness reportedly reported the incident to the divisional police officer in Imeko, Imeko/Afon local government area of ​​the state.

Spokesman of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday.

Odutola said hunters, vigilantes, So Safe officers, Amotekun Corps officers, forest guards and also police officers are already scouring the forest to rescue the victims.

The statement read in part: “A suspected case of kidnapping has been reported through eyewitness account to the Divisional Police Officer of Imeko Division.

“According to the report, one Nurat Ogundipe “f” who was on a commercial motorcycle was abducted along with the commercial motorcyclist on April 1, 2024 at about 3pm while returning from Ijio Iwere Ile, a community in Oyo State which shares borders with Ogun State.

“Following the abduction, the DPO, in collaboration with hunters, rangers, Vigilante, So Safe and Amotekun, were deployed to the forest to comb the bush, to ensure the rescue and safety of the two abducted persons.

“The Commissioner of Police has been informed and other security formations have been alerted. There is no reason to fear, as material resources and all external security measures have been activated to ensure that the victims are safely released.”

Less than two weeks ago, one Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola were kidnapped from Celestial Christ Church, Oriyarin Parish, Mowe, in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of ​​the state,

Although police say Seyifunmi has regained his freedom, Abiola is still in the kidnappers' den.

Tunde Osifowokan, Farm Manager of Flourishing Poultry Farm, Idowa, in Odogbolu Local Government Area of ​​the state, was also kidnapped last month when some armed men invaded the community.
