Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has shared his thoughts on losing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Glove to South Africa captain Ronwen Williams.

Nwabali, who could have won the award had he not conceded against Ivory Coast in Sunday's final, was left out after conceding twice.

The Nigerian goalkeeper expressed his conviction that his South African counterpart was worthy of the Golden Glove.

Williams, who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns, was honored as the Best Goalkeeper after leading South Africa to the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Williams made history as the first goalkeeper to save four penalties in a single AFCON shootout.

Throughout the tournament, Williams kept five clean sheets and conceded three goals, while Nwabali kept four clean sheets and conceded four goals.

“Ronwen Williams is a very good goalkeeper, to be honest. It's no surprise to me that he won; he deserves. I'm competing with someone of his caliber and him winning the tournament's best goalkeeper award is well deserved. I wish him good luck and give him credit,” Nwabali noted.
