Former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman joins Microsoft.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the transfer to Xadding both Altman and former CEO Greg Brockman to his company’s ranks.
“We are extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman and their colleagues will be joining Microsoft to lead a new research team focused on advanced artificial intelligence,” said Nadella. “We look forward to moving quickly to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed.”
In the post, Nadella also stated that the company remains committed to its partnership with OpenAI and looks forward to “meeting and working with Emmett Shear and the new OAI leadership team.”
Altman retweeted Nadella’s post, adding: “The mission continues.”
On Friday, Altman was immediately fired from OpenAI in a dramatic board decision. ChatGPT’s board said it “no longer has confidence in his ability to continue to lead.”
