Governor Nasir Idris has signed into law the state’s N250.1 billion 2024 appropriation bill.

Idris agreed to the budget at Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday after receiving the document from Speaker Usman Muhammad-Ankwai.

He expressed deep gratitude to the Speaker of the House and members of parliament for the quick approval of the 2024 budget.

Idris commended the lawmakers for caring about the welfare of the people in the state and being mindful of their responsibilities.

“I can testify that it has never happened this way. We sent the budget, the assembly examined it, debated the budget and at the end of the day they approved the budget. And they brought the budget, which I signed today”, said the governor.

The governor committed to implementing the budget to the letter in a transparent manner and giving priority to infrastructural development and empowerment of the people of Kebbi.

Mr. Muhammad-Ankwai described the governor’s assent as a significant milestone in Kebbi’s democratic journey. He said the budget was the culmination of extensive consultations, deliberations and rigorous scrutiny by dedicated members of the House.

The speaker affirmed the commitment of the legislative body to work together with the executive branch to accelerate the development of the state for the benefit of the people.

On November 22, the governor presented the N250.1 billion budget proposal for the 2024 fiscal year to parliament.
