Is the stock market open on Thanksgiving?

No, the stock market is not open on Thanksgiving Day, which falls on November 23 this year. The day before will take place during normal trading hours. The market will open as usual at 9:30 a.m. ET the day after Thanksgiving, but will close earlier at 1 p.m. ET.

The bond market will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day and closed early (2 p.m. EST) the day after Thanksgiving.

Is the stock market open on Black Friday?

The market opens at its usual time of 9:30 a.m. ET on Black Friday – but closes at 1 p.m. Normally, regular trading hours last until 4:00 PM ET.

The bond market will also begin regular Black Friday trading hours at 8 a.m. EST. However, instead of continuing until 5:00 p.m., regular trading hours will end at 2:00 p.m. EST.

What time does the stock market open?

The exchange’s regular trading hours are weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST. However, the market will close as early as 1:00 PM ET on the day before or after certain holidays.

Additionally, you may be able to trade during the hours before the market opens (4 to 9:30 a.m. EST), depending on your broker or trading platform. The same applies to after-hours trading. This is available from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST.

However, available hours may vary depending on the broker. For example, SoFi Invest offers pre-market trading from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EST, but provides extended trading hours from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

When it comes to the bond market, there are slight differences in trading hours and holidays/early closings. Pre-list trading hours are from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. ET, regular trading hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, and extended trading hours are from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET.

Can you still use your account while the exchange is closed?

If you do not use international stock exchanges or electrical communication networks, you probably will not be able to trade on weekends or holidays when the market is closed. However, you can still perform basic functions on your account.

You can check your balance, monitor your portfolio’s performance, or initiate deposits or withdrawals. However, please note that you will not be able to place any orders until the market reopens. Moreover, the pace of deposits and withdrawals depends on the opening hours of your brokerage office.

Banks are open on the same days as the stock and bond markets, with a few exceptions.
