Some Ogun state local government chairmen have been captured on video prostrating to beg Governor Dapo Abiodun for forgiveness.
One of the chairmen had been accused to have written against the governor of diverting local government funds.
Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state, Wale Adedayo, made the allegation on Sunday, August 27, in a letter addressed to a former governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
He accused Abiodun of withholding more than N17billion statutory Federal Allocation due to the state’s Local Governments in the last two years.
Adedayo stated that there has been zero Federal Allocation to each local government since they got on board in 2021.
He asked Osoba to urgently wade in, and convince Abiodun to allow the statutory Federal Allocation to Local Governments in Ogun State should be allowed to reach each of them as envisaged by the 1999 Constitution.
Following the controversy this caused, some local government chairmen stormed the government house in Abeokuta to beg Governor Abiodun over the “embarrassment” it caused him.
