Grupo City is close to acquiring another team to its network of clubs. The owners of Manchester City have already shown interest in buying Basaksehir from Turkey, but according to information reported by the Turkish newspaper Fanatik this Wednesday (13), the parties have reached an agreement and the sale may be announced soon.

Basaksehir will thus join the 13 other clubs in the City Group: New York City, Melbourne City, Yokohama F. Marinos, Montevideo City Torque, Girona, Schuan Jiuniu, Mumbai City FC, Lommel SK, Troyes, Palermo, Bahia and Club Bolivar.

Basaksehir won the Turkish championship in the 2019/20 season, but has been going through difficult times in recent years. Therefore, the club is currently only 14th in the domestic league, with only one point advantage over the first team in the relegation zone.

Therefore, the investment provided by City Group seems to be a good option for Basaksehir to return to the ranks of the main teams in Turkish football.
