GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A couple died when a concrete wall collapsed in their slum as a 6.8 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Mindanao on Friday afternoon.

The fatal victims were identified as Danny Ginung, 26, and his partner Jane Ginung, 18, both from Barangay Sinawal.

Both are employees of Amadeo Pathwoods.

Captain Danny Balofiños, in charge of Precinct 4, said the couple’s tent was built next to the concrete wall of the Amadeo complex that collapsed.

Local authorities are still verifying other deaths reported due to the earthquake.

Local media reported dozens of people seeking medical attention due to hyperventilation, dizziness and psychological shock.
