MANILA, Philippines – The General Santos Airport terminal building suffered “cracks” following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Sarangani, Davao Oriental, on Friday afternoon.
“Fine cracks were noticed in some columns at the airport. The airport control tower was able to facilitate the departure of two commercial flights,” General Santos Airport manager Joel Gavina said in a statement released by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
“Fortunately, all passengers and staff are safe and accounted for. No injuries were reported,” she added.
Meanwhile, Davao International Airport, Cotabato Airport and Mati Airport did not sustain any damage, according to Davao Airport Area Manager Rex Ocena.
