LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Four people died in separate vehicular accidents between Monday and Tuesday, according to the Police Regional Office-1
In Ilocos Sur, Sonny Boy Dangtayan, 18, died after suffering head injuries when the motorcycle he was riding at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday collided with another vehicle driven by Joshua Abella, 20, police said.
Dangtayan and Abella’s rear riders suffered leg injuries.
An initial police investigation showed that Abella was driving west along the village of San Agustin in the city of Candon when Dangtayan, who was in the opposite lane, veered into the first lane, resulting in a collision.
Police said everyone involved in the incidents were not wearing protective helmets and were under the influence of alcohol.
In La Union, Arnold Bautista, 53, also died in an accident when the tricycle he was driving along the national highway in the town of Caba collided with another tricycle.
Investigators said Bautista was thrown from his vehicle and later struck by an oncoming bus. Bautista was pronounced dead on arrival when he was rushed to a local hospital.
In the capital of La Union, San Fernando, 37-year-old Chris Abenojar also died when he lost control of his motorcycle and subsequently crashed into an electrical pole.
In Pangasinan, police said Erickson Ligason, 42, died after he also lost control of a multicab he was driving along the national highway in Calanutan village in Rosales town.
Police said Ligason swerved into the opposite lane, which resulted in a collision with an abandoned truck that was on the shoulder of the road. INQ
