LEGAZPI CITY – At least 45 families, or 137 people, were evacuated in Uson town in Masbate province due to river overflow caused by continuous rains since November 18.

The Uson Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said it began the evacuation of residents of Purok 1 to 7 of Barangay Magsaysay, which was submerged in waist-deep floodwaters, at around 10 a.m.

Adonis Dilao, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the river overflow affected these areas and the neighboring villages of Buenavista and Mabini.

In Mobo town, the villages of Pinamarbuhan, Tabuc and Mandali were also flooded, but no families were evacuated.

The MDRRMO of Mobo also reported that continuous rains caused a landslide in Barangay Mandali. INQ
