His latest film, “Family star“, co-starring Mrunal Thakur, is set to launch globally on April 5th. In the US, advance booking for premiere shows increased from 162 venues to 342, and the number of shows also jumped to 888. But the film only managed to sell around 8,100 tickets from 3,200 tickets a few days ago. The film's total collection currently stands at almost $130,000 (Rs 1 crore). For the price it was acquired for, the film needs to make a big splash over the weekend to make its money back.
On April 5th, the film would conflict with two major releases in the US, one of them being Dev PatelMonkey Man, which has been receiving tremendous word of mouth, makes its debut at the South by SouthWest Festival. The First Omen, which is the prequel to Omen (1976), will also be released on the same day.
