“Dune: Part Two” will pick up where the previous film left off. Presumably, those who enjoyed the first installment will be eager to return to see more Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, not to mention some giant sandworms. The sequel has a lot going for it and it looks like it could have a lot of potential moving forward, with the sequel grossing more than its predecessor. Optimistically, this could be a situation from “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” ($375 million worldwide) to “Across the Spider-Verse” ($690 million worldwide).
That would be the most optimistic version of the film's box office prospects. Frankly, theaters need help and it would be a more than welcome boost for 2024 if the sequel managed to surpass the original. This would also ensure that Villeneuve would have the chance to make “Dune Messiah” and complete his trilogy. When this all started, Warner Bros. believed this could be a great science fiction franchise. This relaunch was another small step on the path to making that a reality.
“Dune: Part Two” hits theaters on March 1, 2024.
