A former Assistant Secretary for National Publicity of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Yekini Nabena has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to take sides or get involved in the political crisis in Rivers State between former governor Nyesom Wike and incumbent governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Nabena also warned that the President, as the father of the Nation, should not play politics in Ondo politics.

There has been great disagreement between the incumbent governor of Rivers State and his predecessor, Wike, over certain political interests in the state.

In a statement released to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, the APC chieftain said the President and the ruling APC must respect the constitution of Nigeria as far as Ondo and Rivers State are concerned.

According to Nabena, President Bola Tinubu should not play politics with the two states. He must show that he is a democrat and not a dictator.

The Bayelsa-born APC chieftain further stated that “President Tinubu, who believes in the political or social equality of all people and practices the principle of equal rights, should not play politics with River and Ondo states.

“The constitution of our Nation must be recognized and respected at this time in Rivers and Ondo states.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) must also carefully analyze the constitution of the party, bearing in mind that the National Working Committee of our party does not have the power to dissolve an elected president and his executive in Rivers.

“We are democrats and not dictators in the APC, so we must be careful with our actions. The implications of this action in River State could be dangerous for our party in the near future if the right thing is not done quickly now, otherwise what happened before in 2019 will happen again with disputes here and there,” Nabena warned.
