Don't throw those leftovers. They may never reach full glory the first time, but with the proper protocol, you can reheat your food so it tastes pretty much the same. In fact, the microwave is pretty bad at reheating most things.

While you can probably get away with plain fried rice, a microwave tends to overcook noodles and noodles and will likely turn your chicken, shrimp, or sliced beef into chewy. Instead, just throw everything into a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Mix intermittently and within a few minutes you'll have something almost as good as when it first appeared on your desk or door the night before. And nonstick pans typically take 15 seconds to wash.
For rice dishes, consider a stainless steel, carbon steel, or cast iron skillet for crispy rice.

There are a handful of reasons why I love my air fryer, but none more remarkable than for reheating leftovers. Microwaves destroy pizza, so let's scratch that. A toaster oven and convection oven work best, but they still take a long time to heat and end up drying out the pizza when it is heated.
The quick blast of super convection from an air fryer will reheat your pizza to crispy perfection in about two minutes at 400 degrees F, depending on how big and thick it is. Be sure to use the basket or grill, otherwise the hot, flat bottom of the air fryer basket may burn the bottom of the slice. I won't reheat leftover pizza any other way. If you didn't have enough reasons to opt for one, air fryers use much less energy than a large oven.
Food: Fried chicken, French fries and other fried foods

Leftover fried foods have historically been one of the hardest to bring back to life. Enter the air fryer, which can revive fried chicken, fritters, mozzarella sticks, and even fries like nothing else in the kitchen. Similar to pizza, it will only take a few minutes to heat up and you should have a crispy outer shell, just like when the fried food was initially cooked.
For thicker pieces of chicken, use a lower temperature of about 325 to 350 degrees F for three minutes or so to ensure you don't burn the outside before the center has time to heat up.
Side note: beyond reheating fried chicken, a good fryer also makes delicious “fried” chicken and other foods with much less oil than traditional methods.
Food: Steak, pork chops, burgers, and grilled chicken

Cuts of meat, including steak and pork chops, are another food that can be difficult to resurrect. Fear not, because there is a way. While it's not impossible to reheat grilled steak or fish in a skillet or oven, you're likely to dry out the meat. Instead, I suggest quickly re-burning it in a hot, covered pan. cast iron frying pan or non-stick frying pan for no more than a minute on each side. The hot surface of the pan should bring the crust back to life. Keeping it covered will help heat it up before the heat from the pan has time to overcook it. For delicate fish, you may want to use a non-stick frying pan to prevent the meat from sticking or falling apart.
Fair warning: These types of reheated foods will never be as good as when you first took them off the grill, frying pan, or plancha, but this method should leave them fresh. more than edible.
