MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The Public Prosecutor's Office (PAO) has appointed Dengvaxia controversy proponent Erwin Erfe as Deputy Attorney General.

In 2018, Erfe performed autopsies for PAO on children who reportedly died after being inoculated with the Dengvaxia vaccine.

Although the Department of Health confirmed that the vaccine did not cause any deaths, PAO chief Persida Acosta, often criticized for her role in spreading fake news about Dengvaxia, praised the decision in an X post on Tuesday.

“President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' R. Marcos, Jr. appointed Atty. Dr. Erwin P. Erfe as the new 'Deputy Attorney General' of the District Attorney's Office,” Acosta said.

The Palace confirmed the appointment in a message to journalists.
