Sharing sweet success

The owner of the cotton candy machine at Vernon's Village Green Mall hopes to break records on Friday.

Facundo Rodriguez, owner of Okanagan Novelty Vending, is dubbing the day “Candy for a Cause.”

“We’re impressed with how we’ve been received by the community,” says Rodriguez, who opened his Vernon location on Nov. 8.

In just 25 days, their robotic vending machine managed to bring in over $4,000 in cotton candy sales.

Rodriguez believes sweet success should be shared.

“If we want to benefit from community support, we want to give back,” he says.

Santa's Anonymous is Rodriguez's favorite charity, and he plans to donate 100% of his sales that day.

Rodriguez confides that he hasn't grown much and “donating to a charity that gives toys to children at Christmas is a good cause.”
