Christopher Abbott to star in Leigh Whannell film werewolf for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. The film is set to be released on Friday, October 25, 2024. The project will mark Whannell's second monster film and fourth directorial collaboration with Blumhouse, who previously directed the 2020 hit film. The invisible man.

werewolf stars Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator. The film was written by Whannell & Corbett Tuck and Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo. Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. werewolf is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

Universal and Blumhouse have been on top of this particular monster IP for some time, with Ryan Gosling and Derek Cianfrance directing. Before the strike, both parted ways with the project, although Gosling remains executive producer. Once the recent SAG-AFTRA strike ended, the project became a high priority for the studios and given Abott's rise as a highly sought-after leading man, they were quick to bring him in to star in the film.

Abbott was recently seen in Searchlight photo Poor things opposite Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo and can be seen below on Sony and Marvel Kraven the hunter. Other credits include the Hulu series Catch 22 and Apple The crowded room.
