Christian Bale was the definition of unrecognizable as Frankenstein's monster in the first official photos of The Bride.

The 50 year old man is leading the star-studded cast of the upcoming drama, alongside Jessie Buckley as his fiancée, Annette Bening, Penelope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard.

He also reunited with his former Batman co-star Maggie Gyllenhaal for the project – which the latter is directing.

On Instagram, she shared the first photos from the set ahead of its release next year, introducing us to Frankenstein and his bride.

Christian can be seen sporting the monster's trademark scars on his forehead and chest in the black and white upload, while also sporting an interesting tattoo.

He looked very different from his usual suave persona, wearing a light striped jacket and posing with his hand stroking a full head of hair.

His fiancée (Jessie) looked equally creepy as she focused on something off-camera, posing with a dark substance smeared across her face in a black outfit.

Alongside the stunning images, Maggie simply wrote: “Meet the bride and Frank 🖤 #TheBride #CameraTest #FirstLook #JessieBuckley #ChristianBale.”

The Bride marks her second stint as director, as she also directed The Lost Daughter – working alongside Jessie.

Little else is known about the plot, but the official record says: 'A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago seeking help from Dr. Euphronius to create a companion for himself.

'The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman and the Bride is born.

“She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, police attention, and a wild, radical social movement.”

Unfortunately, we have to wait and see how The Bride plays out, with release scheduled for October 2, 2025.

However, this isn't the only Frankenstein slated for the big screen, as Guillermo del Toro is working on his own separate project.

Filmmaker The Shape of Water will adapt the classic novel for Netflix, with Saltburn star Jacob Elordi took on the role of the iconic monster after Andrew Garfield was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

Oscar Isaac will play Dr. Frankenstein, while Mia Goth, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley Christian Convery, Charles Dance and Christoph Waltz are also in the lineup.

Bring on the battle of the Frankensteins.

The Bride is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 2, 2025.
