The Cardinals will be without one of their defensive captains for the rest of the season. The team announced linebacker on Monday Kyzir the White he tore his bicep and will be placed on IR. The injury will keep White sidelined for the rest of the 2023 season.

After signing a two-year contract with the Cardinals in the offseason, White played every snap for his new squad through the first 10 weeks of the season. He played in the first 26 snaps of Sunday’s game against the Texans, and head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed the veteran played “five or six games” with an injury before ultimately leaving the game.

“It was kind of painful to watch because I didn’t know he tore his bicep and was playing with one hand,” Gannon said (via the team’s website ). “That’s why he is who he is.”

In 11 games this season, White has collected 90 tackles, two sacks and one interception. The former fourth-round pick had a breakout season in 2021 with the Chargers, finishing with 144 tackles. He had a one-year stint in Philadelphia in 2022, finishing with 110 tackles.

Josh Woods stepped in as a defensive caller after White was knocked out of the game. Chris Barnes he took most of the snaps while White was out of the lineup. The veteran hasn’t been on the field for a defensive snap since Week 3, but he finished Sunday’s game having played in 30 percent of his team’s defensive snaps.
