LP president Julius Abure escaped assassination.

The times Nigeria reports that the Labor Party (LP) claimed that its National President, Julio Abureescaped an assassination attempt on his life.

This online news platform understands that Abure's residence in Abuna was also destroyed by fire on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, according to the Labor Party.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labor Party, Obiora Ifohdisclosed this in a statement to journalists on Wednesday night.

Ifoh said Abure’s residence was “destroyed by a mysterious fire that broke out a few minutes after 1am while Abure and his family were sleeping.”

The Labor Party's National Publicity Secretary revealed that a family member who narrated the incident said the family was woken up by neighbors and security guards who lived in the complex.

The statement reads as follows: “The entire family was trapped because the inferno hit the stairs, making it impossible for Abure and his family to escape.

“However, it took divine intervention for the national president and his family to escape after neighbors and security guards gallantly knocked down one of the upstairs windows, opening the way for the family to escape.

“Fire department men arrived shortly after Abure and his family were evacuated.

“Abure and his family were rushed to a private hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. His condition, however, is stable.”

Meanwhile, TheTimes recalls that the Labor Party was embroiled in a leadership crisis, with the Nigerian Labor Congress pushing for Abure's removal as National Chairman.
