Bobbie Jean Carter's cause of death has been confirmed, two months after she died at age 41.
The mother of one, sister of singers Nick and Aaron Carter, died suddenly on December 23.
She was reportedly found unconscious in the bathroom of her Florida home, with the Carter family sharing their 'shock' at the loss.
A new report from the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office has now revealed that the mother-of-one died from “intoxication from the combined effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine.”
The way she died was listed as “accidental” in the documentation, obtained by People Magazine.
According to the outlet, Bobbie's roommate remembers last seeing her at 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 — they found her unconscious on the bathroom floor half an hour later.
She was taken for treatment at St. Joseph's Hospital 'in cardiac arrest' but was pronounced dead shortly after 8am.
Authorities shared that she was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Their mother, Jane Carter, Jane shared a devastating statement following the tragedy, telling fans: 'I am in shock to learn of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality that this is happening for the third time.
'When I am able to think clearly, I will release a fuller statement; but until then I would ask to grieve in private.
“No matter how deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, a young child's grief over the loss of a parent must be much greater.
'So I would ask those in solidarity to say a prayer for my precious 8-year-old granddaughter, Bella, who has already lost her father and is now also without her mother.'
Nick later shared a touching tribute to his late brothers, posting a childhood photo with Bobbie on Instagram.
“It may take a lifetime to fully process the loss my family has suffered over the years – most recently with the sudden passing of our sister Bobbie Jean,” he added.
'I'm completely heartbroken. Thank you for all your love and kind words. We are reminded once again that life is precious, fleeting and that we should value the time we spend with those we love.
'I know she is finally at peace with God. I love you, BJ.
